There are many different ways you can get involved to help give back to our community. We have so many different ways people can be involved, support where it's most needed and give thanks in ways that can help our station continue to grow and thrive!
While many volunteer crew members come from a marine background, this is not a requirement.
Thanks to our professional training plans, non-mariners can quickly become highly skilled crew members with time and commitment in a supportive environment that values teamwork.
In addition to operational volunteers, supporting members are critical to the success of our stations. We also welcome volunteers who have an interest in:
Boating safety advocacy
Vessel maintenance and equipment management
Community fundraising and attending special events
Media support
Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization, and our station in Comox is funded by the Comox Valley Marine Rescue Society. If you're interested in joining the society to help support our cause, choose where our funding goes and discuss upcoming opportunities for the station.
If you're not able to join as a volunteer, please consider sponsoring our station, this helps us maintain our vessels, gear and equipment to ensure that we stay safe on the water and remain effective a search and rescue organization.
Our station is donation-funded, so any support is highly appreciated! Donations go to maintaining our vessels and equipment, purchasing gear, and ensuring our station is well-maintained and continues to thrive.
